Labyrinth Dedication at Still Waters Set for June 1
In the Spring of 2011, Jane Lowrimore suggested that the Still Waters’ Action Team look in to the possibility of building a Labyrinth at Still Waters.
A group was formed to begin planning. Group members included Betty Click, Arleigh DeLeon, Jenny Eversole, Judy Harelson, Suzii Paynter, and local labyrinth expert, Phyllis Carlisle. The group met throughout the summer of 2011. They walked the land looking for the location that felt right.
In the Spring of 2012, Suzii invited a building expert from BGCT to meet with the group to discuss moving forward. Gordon Hazelton joined the group and the serious work began. We surveyed the site; hired a contractor to grade the land and compact the soil; marked the path, chiseled and placed rocks; and then shoveled crushed granite into place. Finally on October 27, 2012, the labyrinth was completed thanks to the hard work of so many.
Please join us on June 1 at 9:30 am to dedicate the labyrinth. We will meet in the Activity Center at Still Waters for a light breakfast and then walk to the labyrinth together. We will learn the history of the labyrinth and learn how this ancient tool can be used to enhance your spiritual life and draw you closer to God.
