FBC Celebrates Mother's Day with Child-Led Worship Service
To make Mother’s Day extra special this year, join First Baptist Church of Austin on Sunday, May 12th at 11 am, downtown at 9th and Trinity, for a creative and meaningful child-led worship service.
First Austin’s unique family-friendly service, “We are All God’s Children,” will follow a typical Sunday morning format, with one big difference -- children have planned, and will present, all aspects of the service, including the prayers, hymns, litanies and sermons. Older elementary school children take active leadership roles in deciding on the theme and planning the elements and order of the service.
In addition, First Austin’s renowned children’s choirs, which include kids from preschool to fifth grade, will perform songs praising God and emphasizing how God gives us the strength to do our best whether we are playing, praying, or dancing.
Children’s Minister Dorothy Strickland said, “each year the children astound us with their poise, wisdom, and ability to lead us into a pure experience of worship.”
Families, grandparents, teenagers, youth, children, and infants are all welcome to attend this intergenerational service that is sure to provide a reverent, moving, and memorable Mother’s Day experience.
