Shelah and Jade Acker are CBF missionaries in Kampala, Uganda. Their passion is ministering to people affected by war and conflict. Watch the CBF video, Ministry Among Former Child Soldiers, to see how they got their start ministering to refugees. As you watch, pay close attention to the story of former Sudanese boy soldier, Saudi Hashim.

Above are the Ackers with their two young daughters and their extended family of Sudanese young men. Saudi is next to Shelah. You can read more about the Acker's ministry at

Our FBC in East Africa team will visit with the Ackers at the Center of Hope in Kampala, Uganda and work with CBF missionary Missy Ward Angalla. At the Center, our team will lead a children's program for 100 children, lead a team-building activity on the beach with teens that study at the Center, and serve at their annual Christmas Celebration where everyone celebrates the achievements of the refugee students who study at the Center.

Pray for the Ackers as they continue to provide for their extended family and develop new ministries. Pray for these young men as they complete their education. Pray for our FBC team as they prepare for their trip.

Next week: Missy Ward Angalla and her ministry to women and girls affected by violence.
