A Hunger Awareness VBS

Mobile Loaves and Fishes

Children prepare lunches.
Children pack lunches.
Every night shiny white and silver trucks go out into the streets of Austin and four other cities to give food, basic clothing and hygiene products to the homeless and the working poor.  These trucks are part of Mobile Loaves and Fishes (MLF) and are run by different volunteers every night, 365 days a year.  People in need recognize the trucks and gather around them to be served meals of freshly-made sandwiches, fruit, cookies and hard-boiled eggs. First Baptist Church (FBC) works with First United Methodist Church and St. Martin's Lutheran Church to run a route of  one of the trucks.  The socks, hygiene items and hard candy that the children attending VBS this week have donated will be put on FBC's truck to help people in need.

Belynda Montgomery is a regular MLF volunteer at FBC.
