Carols and Candles
All of Austin is invited to the Christmas Eve services, 5 p.m., Monday, December 24th at First Austin, East 9th at Trinity in Downtown Austin.
Christmas Eve is a very special time for the whole family at First Austin, featuring composer/pianist Joseph Martin joined by his wife vocalist Sue Martin.
This is followed at 5:30 p.m. by a brief, but poignant Christmas Eve Service of candles and carols.
Martin, a member of The First Baptist Church, is known worldwide for his choruses, anthems, and cantatas. Joseph Martin earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Later, he earned a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at the University of Texas at Austin.
Sue Martin received her music degree from Bowling Green State University. While completing her master’s she was “discovered” by the legendary choral director Fred Waring. She became a principle soloist for The Pennsylvanians. Later, for close to 20-years Sue Martin performed in Disney World Productions including the role of Ariel in the stage version of “The Little Mermaid”.
